‘Tis the season right? Well, we know the holiday’s are hectic for many of us. Parties, family activities, and shopping on top of the normal schedule can certainly make for a busy time of year. Same can be said for the college recruiting process, especially in many sports including football who are actively finalizing there signing class while also sourcing information on the upcoming prospects in there Junior, Sophomore and Freshman year.
With this hectic season, I thought I would share a couple of quick tips to encourage you during this busy time:
- Have a plan! Sounds easy, but understand and plan for the NCAA Clearinghouse, Learn about the scholarship totals, get an evaluation and prepare for contact period.
- Have an open dialogue about your college prioritize, degree, location, coaching staff and much more. Talk as a family and do it often!
- Be balanced in your approach. Once you’ve been evaluated you need to be pro-active with coaches. College Coaches want to recruit prospects that are interested in them!
The bottom line is there are plenty of opportunities out there for kids and families to consider when it comes to college recruiting but having a plan, open up the dialogue and being balanced is critical.
